Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club has announced that Chris Allen has stepped down as the head coach of the GRFC Women’s team. Allen, who accepted the position in October, has encountered a family health issue that will not allow him to continue in that role.
“Unfortunately, recent changes in my family circumstances require my full attention, leaving me unable to fulfill my duties as head coach for the GRFC women’s team. I would not be able to meet my own personal expectations of excellence and commitment. For this reason, I decided it was necessary to step down, giving the club ample time to find a coach who can give the players and club their undivided attention. I am grateful to Matt Roberts for the opportunity, and for the support I have received since day one by fans of the club. I wish the players, coaches and fans, every success this summer and thank everyone for their understanding.”
“We are disappointed that Chris won’t be able to continue as the women’s coach, but completely understand his need to take care of his family” said GRFC President Matt Roberts. “We want to thank Chris for the time and effort he has put into building our 2018 roster and wish him and his family nothing but the best in the future.”
The search for a new women’s head coach will begin immediately.
