Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced today that the Daire O’Riordan will return for the 2019 National Premier League Soccer season.
O’Riordan, 20, was a mainstay in the GRFC midfield during the 2018 campaign. The box to box midfielder made 12 appearances for the Boys in Blue, scoring one goal and contributing three assists. He scored his lone goal of the season in the 5-0 rout of Kalamazoo FC at Houseman Field.
O’Riordan is a sophomore at Davenport University, and has made 35 appearances for the Panthers over his two seasons. He was named to an All-GLIAC team both years after scoring two goals and logging nine assists.
“To be given another opportunity to play for GRFC is something special” said O’Riordan. “To be able to play in front of one of the best fan bases in the country something that I am extremely grateful for. Hopefully we can go a step further this year and bring this city the NPSL championship it deserves.”
GRFC Head Coach Lewis Robinson commented “We are very excited to have Daire back with us this summer at GRFC. As a young midfielder he is improving every day and is very motivated to win championships. He is very good on the ball, brings us great energy in the midfield, and we can’t wait to see him back in blue this summer.”
