Ex-Stars Midfielder Signs With GRFC

Davenport Midfielder Signs on for 2017

Grand Rapids Football Club is proud to welcome Cam Cavanagh to the 2016 National Premier Soccer League squad!

Cavanagh, a holding midfielder who is currently a junior at Davenport University, has been named WHAC All-Conference three times and won an NAIA National Championship in 2014 as well as leading the Panthers to the NAIA Semi-Finals in 2016. Cam is originally from Durban, South Africa and played for Michigan Stars during the 2016 campaign.

“Signing to play for a team like Grand Rapids FC is an extremely proud day for me and my family” said Cavanaugh. “I have been patient and worked very hard for an opportunity like this to present itself. GRFC is a great team with an unbelievable fan base home and away. Living in Grand Rapids has been a wonderful experience for me and to be able to play for the City’s football club is a great privilege that won’t be taken for granted. I personally want to thank all those involved for making this move possible”.

GRFC President Matt Roberts commented “Cam is an exceptionally talented midfielder who will add to our team in several ways. He can play in front of the back four or play in a box-to-box role as he is a player who wants to be on the ball constantly. We are very excited that he has chosen to play in GR this summer and we know our fans will love his passion for the game”.
