Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club is proud to announce the signing of George Jermy for the 2019 season. Jermy, 30, has made more than 250 professional appearances spanning across England, Spain, and Australia in his 10+ year career thus far. The versatile Midfielder started in England at Norwich City FC, progressing through the academy to the reserve squad. He then moved to AFC Bournemouth before moving to Spain. In 2015, Jermy was invited to compete in the OFC Champions League with Fijian side Suva FC. He has had stints with CD Jávea, Villarreal CF, and Xerez Deportivo before playing for FC Arizona during the 2017 NPSL campaign, leading them to an undefeated regular season. The last two years he has been a player/manager at CD Almuencar in Spain.
“It is an amazing opportunity to return to the USA and play during the European off season” said Jermy. “As soon as I had the opportunity to play for such a well-established club like GRFC and to work under such an experienced coach in the region like Lewis it was an easy decision. I can’t wait to come to the area with my family, and see it as the start of what I hope is a multiple year association with GRFC. I’m especially looking forward to learning from Lewis and the staff as a player and as a young coach, and I am excited to bring all I can to the team with the experience I have been fortunate enough to gain over my career.”
GRFC Head Coach Lewis Robinson commented “We have been in contact with George for some time now and I am thrilled we can finally call him a GRFC player. He brings a wealth of experience in the game and will be an important leader for us in 2019. George shares the vision and passion of our club to win championships and we can’t wait to get to work this spring to accomplish that goal.”
