Perez, a sophomore at Hartford University, made nine appearances for the Ladies in Blue during the 2018 UWS campaign.  She made 34 saves in those games, only allowing 8 goals during the regular season and registering four clean sheets.  She also made two saves in the Midwest Regional playoff penalty shootout against Detroit Sun to secure a place in the Midwest finals.

During her time at Hartford, she has appeared for the Hawks 37 times in her two years, accumulating a 21-12-3 record and nine clean sheets.  She was named to the America East All-Rookie team during her Freshman season.

“I am honored to be a part of such a successful team, and to be able to play for such a great city and fan base is very exciting” said Perez.  “I can’t wait to get back to work with my team-mates and try to bring a championship back to Grand Rapids.”

GRFC Women Head Coach James Gilpin commented “We are delighted to welcome back Maia after a very successful first season with GRFC.  She made herself a hero with the penalty saves in the Midwest playoffs and we are looking forward to more great moments in 2019.”
