Grand Rapids FC Adds Another Forward to 2016 Roster

Grand Rapids Football Club is proud to announce our newest player signing. Please help us welcome Joe Broekhuizen!

Broekhuizen, a 6’6” Center Forward who will wear number 77, played in 2014 with USL side Dayton Dutch Lions and the 2015 season with VPS in the Finland Premier League. He is the older brother of Defender Sean Broekhuizen and also attended Calvin College where he scored 29 goals and had 36 assists in his career.

“I cannot wait to represent this city and this club” said Broekhuizen. “I look forward to playing alongside my brother, Sean as well as guys I have grown up playing with both as teammates and opponents. The Grand Army does its part in showing what a great soccer city we have, so to be able to play (and win) for them and this community is a privilege. For all these Grand Rapids players to finally come together truly makes this One City One Club. Grand Rapids til I die.”

GRFC President Matt Roberts on the signing: “Joe is a fantastic player who adds another dimension to our attack as he can play with his back to goal, take players on, and win balls in the air. He is a player we have been following for many years hoping he would be available to play for us and now our fans will have the opportunity to watch another local product. He is a great addition and will certainly help us during our first NPSL campaign”.
