Grand Rapids FC announces James Gilpin’s return for 2016

Grand Rapids Football Club is happy to announce that we have agreed with James Gilpin once again to be the Assistant/Goalkeeper Coach for the 2016 season.

Gilpin, who holds his NSCAA National and Advanced National Diplomas, English FA Level 1 Badge, and Rene Meulensteen Moves & Skills Diploma.

James_Gilpin_2014Originally from Newcastle, James began his playing career with stints at the Academy level with Sunderland AFC and Newcastle United. He played professionally for Celtic FC and represent…ed the Scotland Youth National Team before moving to the United States.

“I am really looking forward to next summer and continuing to build on the fantastic foundations that the club and coaching staff put in place last summer” commented Gilpin. “With the recent announcement of us moving into the NPSL I am also excited to see new talent added to the team and look forward to working with them with the goal of moving the club one step closer to our objective.”

GRFC President Matt Roberts commented “We are excited to have James back next summer as he has a great relationship with the players and pushes them to find the next level of their game. He will be a key to keeping some consistency in the staff and will help us recruit some others to come to West Michigan as well”.
