GRFC Signs Defender Vanderlaan

Grand Rapids, MI – May 19, 2016

Grand Rapids Football Club is proud to announce that we have signed Jake Vanderlaan for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Vanderlaan, who played his final season at Oakland University this past fall and is originally from Grand Haven, played the 2014 and 2015 National Premier Soccer League seasons for Lansing United. Vanderlaan was originally committed to play the 2016 season for the Michigan Stars and played 90 minutes in their 2-2 draw against Detroit City last week but ultimately decided to come home to West Michigan.

“Jake is a fantastic addition to our squad and brings a wealth of experience from his D1 collegiate career and time playing in the NPSL” said Associate Head Coach Lewis Robinson. “He can play as a center back or a right back and is a strong, fast defender who likes to be on the ball. His attributes make him a great fit for what we are trying to build here at GRFC and we are very excited to have him with us for the season”.
