Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced this morning the signing of goalkeeper Joe White for the 2019 National Premier Soccer League season.
White, a native of London, played a season with Stevenage FC in England before setting off for the United States. He spent two years at Warner Pacific University, where he was an all-conference honoree. He transferred to NAIA powerhouse Hastings College in Nebraska and played his final two years for the Broncos. During that time, he won a national championship in 2016, and was named NAIA national tournament MVP.
White has experience in both the NPSL and PDL, winning a Midwest title with Madison 56ers in 2015 and spending two seasons with Lansing United, qualifying for the PDL playoffs and winning the Milk Cup during the 2018 campaign.
“I am delighted to have signed for such a great club and organization” said White. “I really believe Lewis is building something special for this summer and I expect us to make a run for the national championship. I’ve had the pleasure to play at Houseman as an opponent and I can’t wait to have such great supporters at my home field. May can’t get here soon enough.”
GRFC Head Coach Lewis Robinson commented “Joe is a great addition to our squad for 2019. He brings a lot of experience internationally, in the NPSL and PDL, as well as the college game. He shares our club’s vision to challenge for championships and we are excited to have him with us for the summer.”
