GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Rapids Football Club has signed forward Morris Kamara for the 2018 National Premier Soccer League season.
Kamara joins the Boys in Blue after spending the 2017 NPSL campaign with Lansing United. The 6-foot striker recorded a goal and an assist for the Hoops in a 3-3 draw at Detroit City FC on July 14.
A native of Grand Rapids, Kamara started all 21 matches for Spring Arbor University as a redshirt junior in 2017, leading the Crossroads League with 17 goals to go along with four assists. Kamara was subsequently honored as the Crossroads League Player of the Year, marking the second consecutive season in which Kamara has earned First Team All-League accolades.
In December, Kamara was recognized with a NAIA Men’s Soccer All-American Honorable Mention selection. In total, Kamara has notched 36 goals and 12 assists in 64 appearances with the Cougars.
Prior to his collegiate career, Kamara played at Forest Hills Northern High School before transferring to Livonia Stevenson High School, relocating to Metro Detroit to join the CSA Wolves Academy. Following his sophomore season with Forest Hills Northern in 2011, Kamara received MHSSCA First Team All-State honors after setting a single-season school record with 25 goals.
GRFC returns to Houseman Field on Friday, May 4 as the Boys in Blue host Livonia City FC at 7:30 p.m. Additional home dates include May 19, May 27, June 3, June 8, June 15, June 22, June 29 and July 7.
