GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Rapids Football Club has signed five players – goalkeeper Maia Perez; defender Presley Tibbetts; midfielders Natalie Belsito and Tori Keller; and forward Bailey Korhorn – for the 2018 United Women’s Soccer season.
Perez recently completed her freshman season at Hartford University, earning a place on the America East All-Rookie Team after compiling an 8-9-2 record with a 1.35 goals-against average, a 0.735 save percentage and three clean sheets in 19 starts with the Hawks. On Sept. 10, the 5-foot-10 netminder made a career-high 10 saves in a 2-0 victory over Siena College.
Prior to her collegiate career, Perez played four years with East Kentwood High School, garnering back-to-back MIHSSCA First-Team All-State selections from 2016-17. The Kentwood, Mich., native was also a Third-Team All-State honoree as a sophomore in 2015.
Tibbetts spent four seasons with Saginaw Valley State University from 2012-15, recording four goals and 15 assists in 66 appearances for the Cardinals. As a senior in 2015, the 5-foot-5 defender was named to the All-GLIAC First Team and was an All-Midwest Region Second Team selection.
A native of Grandville, Mich., Tibbetts picked up four varsity letters at Grandville High School, captaining the Bulldogs in each of her final two seasons.
Belsito recently finished her freshman campaign at Central Michigan University, making 15 appearances for the Chippewas. The 5-foot-10 midfielder gained national headlines in March when she saved a squirrel on campus with CPR techniques used in an episode of NBC’s The Office.
A native of Ada, Mich., Belsito won three varsity letters at Forest Hills Northern High School and accumulated 31 career goals. She captained the Huskies for two seasons, leading the program to back-to-back MHSAA Division 2 state championship game appearances from 2016-17.
Keller played four years with the University of Indiana, notching two goals and six assists in 60 appearances with the Hoosiers. In addition to her on-field duties, Keller was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection from 2012-14.
Prior to her collegiate career, Keller was a four-year letter winner at Forest Hills Central and, most notably, started in the Rangers’ 2008 MHSAA Division 2 state championship win against Bloomfield Hills Lahser. As a junior in 2010, Keller paced the Rangers with 15 goals and 18 assists.
Korhorn has returned to West Michigan and will represent Western Michigan University for the 2018 campaign. The 5-foot-5 forward began her collegiate career at the University of Cincinnati, where she made 14 appearances as a freshman in 2017.
A native of Grand Rapids, Korhorn was a four-year standout at Forest Hills Central High School, recording 96 goals and 69 assists. She wrapped up her high school career with an MHSAA Division 1 state championship in 2017, as the Rangers defeated Grand Blanc by a 2-0 margin. Korhorn earned numerous individual accolades, including three consecutive MIHSSCA First-Team All-State honors from 2015-17.
GRFC opens the home portion of its schedule on Saturday, May 5 as the Ladies in Blue host the Midwest United U19 squad at 7 p.m. at Grandville High School. Additional home dates confirmed by UWS include May 13, May 20, June 2, June 30 and July 8.
