Zukic, a Forward who will wear number 9, missed most of the 2016 season after tearing an ACL in January. He returned to make a substitute appearance in our last regular season match and scored a goal against Lansing United. He scored three goals during our inaugural 2015 season.
“I am really excited to be back playing for GRFC and can not wait for the season to start again” said Zukic. “I want to say thanks to the coaching staff for the support they showed me last season as it was a rough year for me with an injury that took longer then expected to get back to playing. But our boys in blue played great, the Grand Army and our fans were incredible once again, and we were so close to winning it all. This year there will be new challenges and I promise to work very hard and come in the best shape possible to help the team go all the way in the National Premier Soccer League and the US Open Cup. With the support of our awesome fans I am sure we will have another successful season in 2017”.
GRFC President Matt Roberts on Zukic returning: “We couldn’t be happier that Elmo is coming back for the 2017 campaign. He showed amazing resolve in his attempt to come back from a devastating injury last year and I know that the coaches and players saw how hard he worked to make it back for one game. He is a player who can change a game with his intelligence, and the experience he has playing at this level is great to have in the squad”.
