Timmer, the 2016 Midfielder and Player’s Player of the Year, will wear number 12 again this season. Greg made 13 appearances for the Boys in Blue during the 2016 season and scored 3 goals from his Defensive Midfield position.
“I am really looking forward to my second year playing for GRFC” said Timmer. “I still have a sour taste in my mouth from last year although we made it so far and won the conference we had the players and talent to win it all. We had the best team chemistry last year and that is because of all the Grand Rapids home grown players. With close to the same crew as last year I hope to help us repeat as conference champions which isn’t easy and ultimately bring home the NPSL championship. I am very much looking forward to playing in my first ever open cup game as well. The fans really are the reason why I am coming back. I play to entertain and win games and I know the fans will help us just like last year”.
GRFC President Matt Roberts commented “We couldn’t be more excited that Greg is back for the 2017 season. He is a massive rock in the middle of our midfield and is a player you can build around. Being a local player I know he is excited to play in front of his friends and family for another year, and we know he is hungry to add the NPSL championship to his resume as well”.
