Fazekas, 25, made 14 competitive appearances for GRFC and kept three clean sheets during the 2017 campaign. This past season, the 6-foot-1, 192-pound netminder earned Man of the Match honors when he helped backstop GRFC to a 2-0 victory at Lansing United on June 24, as well as for his performance in the regular season finale versus AFC Ann Arbor on July 14.
Returning for his third season with the Boys in Blue, Fazekas leads all GRFC goalkeepers with 28 career appearances and 10 shutouts, including a pair of clean sheets during the 2016 Midwest Region playoffs. Fazekas was named GRFC’s 2016 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year after helping the club win the Great Lakes West Conference title. He is the only goalkeeper in team history to save a penalty, denying a spot kick from Detroit City FC’s Cyrus Saydee to preserve a 0-0 draw at Keyworth Stadium on July 1, 2016.
