Top 5 Moments of 2015 GRFC Season

As we close out 2015, let’s look back on the Top 5 GRFC moments of this most successful first year.

Moment #5 – TIFOS

What would this list be without a mention of the Grand Army and their TIFOS. From the first ever (One City, One Club), to the last (From the Calder to Lake Michigan), the best supporters around continue to amaze with their creativity and passion.

Moment #4 – GRFC Clinches 2nd Place in the Great Lakes Premier League with 3-1 Road win over Croatian Eagles

Tyler Fischer scored the game winner and was named Man of the Match as GRFC went on the road and secured a much needed 3 points to take 2nd Place in the GLPL’s first season.

Moment #3 – 1-0 Win over Lansing United in our First Match Ever

The “Boys in Blue” played their first match ever away from home and bested Lansing United 1-0 on a Domenic Barone goal and a clean sheet from Beau Prey. It was an epic night for sure as over 200 fans from GR made the trip to see an amazing result.

Moment #2 – 6,651 Fans Pack Houseman Field for the Last Home Match of the 2015 season vs Muskegon Risers

It was incredible to see the support from West Michigan for this new team. The Grand Army was loud and boisterous, and Grand Rapids FC set several league and national records with that attendance number. The march from Bobs Sports Bar attracted over 600 fans, and homeowners along the route came out in droves to take pictures, cheer on, and generally add to the festive atmosphere.

Moment #1 – GRFC Tops AFC Ann Arbor 5-1 in Inaugural Home Match

In front of 2,409 rain-soaked fans, GRFC’s first home match was a resounding success. A hat trick from Domenic Barone saw the home side win for the first time at Houseman Field, and GRFC was off and running for the 2015 season.
