Grand Rapids Football Club is pleased to announce that forward Joe Broekhuizen will return for the 2018 NPSL season.
Broekhuizen, who has scored 5 goals in 21 appearances for the Boys in Blue over the last two seasons, has played as a center forward in some of the biggest games in the club’s history. He also has become a fan favorite with his hard-working style and willingness to put his body on the line for the team.
The towering forward commented: “Is it May yet? I can’t wait to get back on the field with these guys and this city. Last season left a bit to be desired both from a personal view and more importantly, from a team standpoint as far as playoffs are concerned. Since we joined the league, our goal every summer has been to bring an NPSL championship to this city and 2018 is no different. Given the talent in Grand Rapids and our coaching staff there’s no excuse as to why we can’t bring it home this season. The Grand Army and the rest of our incredible fan base are our motivation and they deserve nothing but our best efforts which is what we will give every week. I am looking forward to pulling on the blue again. You better believe I am GR til I die”.
GRFC Head Coach Lewis Robinson is very excited to have Broekhuizen back, commenting: “Joe has been an integral part of the GRFC team for the past few years. He has many qualities as a center forward and is always a huge threat to any opponent. We are excited to have him back with us for 2018 and look forward to him being a part of our front line”.
