After a strong start to the NPSL season, the schedule now calms down a bit for GRFC, as the past three weekends have seen the team play two games each during that stretch and three of their first five league games on the road. The next two games are crucial to the playoff push, as GRFC hosts Lansing United this weekend at Houseman Field, and then Detroit City on Saturday the 17th at 5/3 Ballpark. The Boys in Blue sit in 4th place currently with a 2-2-1 record and 7 points, with both losses coming on the road at Ann Arbor and at Detroit.
First up is Lansing United on Saturday, who is sitting in 2nd place in the Great Lakes Conference with a 5-1-0 record and 15 points. They have scored 17 goals in those 6 games, so it will be a big challenge for the defense this weekend. Kick off is scheduled for 7:30pm and tickets are available on-line or in person at the gate for $10.
Next weekend we take over 5/3 Ballpark for a rematch with Detroit City FC. Le Rouge sit one spot above GRFC with a 2-1-2 record and 8 points. The away fixture saw Detroit win 3-1 after Goalkeeper Noah Fazekas saw red after only 4 minutes for a slide tackle outside his box. The lads struck first but Detroit came back to capitalize on the man advantage. There are tickets available on-line or at the gate and there are also a few suites still available for this match!
Get ready for two big weekends of soccer and help GRFC make a push for the playoffs!
