Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced this morning that forward Anthony Bowie will return for the 2019 National Premier Soccer League Season.
Bowie, 21, will play his fourth season with GRFC this summer. In his time with the Boys in Blue, he has made 28 appearances, scoring 8 goals and registering 6 assists. He is currently a junior at Western Michigan, appearing in 55 games for the Broncos. He has scored 6 goals and registered 6 assists during his time in Kalamazoo, being named to the MAC All-Tournament team, MAC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete, and CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American. Prior to his collegiate days, he was a four year letter winner at Forest Hills Central, being named Mr. Soccer and a Gatorade All-American in 2015.
“I am grateful to have another opportunity to come home and play for GRFC” said Bowie. “After a disappointing ending to our season last summer, I am eager to get back out in front of the Grand Army and help the team reach another level this year.”
GRFC Head Coach Lewis Robinson commented “Anthony has been a long-standing member of our team and is one of the top players in Michigan. He is a natural goal scorer and can play in a number of roles for us so we are really excited to get him back on the pitch this summer.”
GRFC will return to Houseman Field on Saturday, May 4th as the Boys in Blue host Livonia City at 7:30pm. Additional home dates include May 11th, May 18th, May 31st, June 9th, June 16th, June 28th, June 30th, and July 13th. The club will also compete in the Michigan Milk Cup and the US Amateur Cup with competition dates being announced at a later time.
