Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club is proud to announce that Defender Austin Swiech will return to play the 2020 USL League Two campaign with the club.
Swiech, a Junior at the University of Michigan, played in 22 matches for the Wolverines this Fall. He has made 44 appearances over his first three seasons in Ann Arbor, and recorded a goal and two assists from his wingback position. For the Boys in Blue, he has made 23 appearances over the past two seasons, playing multiple positions for the team when needed.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to be back with GRFC for another summer” said Swiech. “I am excited to have the chance to compete for trophies in front of our amazing fan base.”
“We are excited for Austin to return to Grand Rapids FC for the 2020 season” commented Head Coach James Gilpin. “He had another solid season at U of M and we are hoping he can carry on this form into the summer. As a player he has real quality on the ball and his understanding of the game allows him to play multiple positions. As a local boy from Grand Rapids he optimizes what we are looking to do this year, building a team based on local talent who are proud to represent their city and wear the GRFC badge.”
