GRFC Adds Dynamic Local Forward, TJ Ifaturoti to 2021 Roster

Grand Rapids, MI  – Grand Rapids FC has signed TJ Ifaturoti to their 2021 USL2 club. TJ returns to the Boys in Blue after wearing the crest in the 2019 NPSL campaign.

Ifaturoti, a native of Nigeria, is no stranger to the Grand Rapids soccer community. While playing four years at Davenport University, he scored 53 goals, collecting All-American honors and leading the team to 2014 National Championship. In addition to his expansive playing career, Ifaturoti is a well-known coach around the city. He coaches at the youth level for West Michigan Fire Juniors as well as Caledonia High School boys and Byron Center High School girls.

Ifaturoti had this to say about the signing, “A lot has happened in this past year regarding the pandemic, so it is great to start preparing for a soccer season this summer. I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the team and contributing to the success of the Club. I can’t wait to play for this city again and play in front of The Grand Army fan base.”

Head Coach Stu Collins commented, “We’re very lucky to have TJ on board this season. He and I have competed together in a number of different settings and capacities over the past 10 years, and he has always been a pleasure to work with. As most people in Grand Rapids know, TJ is one of those players who gets fans on the edge of their seat. He possesses pace and dynamism that will trouble even the best of defenses. He is also proven at this level which is crucial.”
