GRFC Signs Belgian Winger Hassan Cancro

Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced this morning the signing of winger Hassan Cancro for the 2019 National Premier Soccer league season.

Cancro, originally from Belgium, has played professionally overseas for RFC Liege, DC Cointe, and FC Herstal in Belgium before moving to Netherlands to play for Sporting Heerle.  He most recently played in the Spanish third division for CD Eldense.

“I am excited to sign for such a great team as Grand Rapids FC with such great fans” said Cancro.  “I look forward to winning games and titles with the club and look forward to bringing my style to the field to help the team.

GRFC Mens Head Coach Lewis Robinson commented “Hassan is a player we know well as he is friends with Jordan Atheba and we tried to make it work last summer but unfortunately couldn’t get it done.  He is a pacy winger who we know our fans will be excited about seeing week in and week out.”

GRFC will return to Houseman Field on Saturday, May 4th as the Boys in Blue host Livonia City at 7:30pm in the second round of the US Amateur Cup.  Additional home dates include May 11th, May 18th, May 31st, June 9th, June 16th, June 28th, June 30th, and July 13th.  The club will also compete in the Michigan Milk Cup this summer.
