Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced this morning the signing of Midfielder Charly Mallmann.
Mallman, 32, was born in Brazil and travelled to France to join Paris Saint-Germain’s famed academy. He progressed through the PSG youth system, starring for the PSG B team for several years. After his time with PSG, he returned to Brazil to play for Vasco De Gama in the Brazilian National League. Wanting to play in Europe again, he signed on with Spanish club CD Javea. He has played the past two seasons with CD Almunecar City and has NPSL experience with Miami United FC, helping the south Florida team to an undefeated Sunshine Conference championship.
“I am excited to return to the States to play for such a well-established club like Grand Rapids” said Mallmann. “I will fight and do my best to win an NPSL championship that I narrowly missed out on when I was with Miami.”
GRFC Head Coach Lewis Robinson commented “Charly is a top level player and we are really excited about him joining us here at GRFC. He’s the kind of player that our fans love to watch play and he can certainly help us bring success and championships to Grand Rapids.”
GRFC will return to Houseman Field on Saturday, May 4th as the Boys in Blue host Livonia City at 7:30pm. Additional home dates include May 11th, May 18th, May 31st, June 9th, June 16th, June 28th, June 30th, and July 13th.
