Grand Rapids, Mi – Grand Rapids FC announces Shane Cronin as a member of the 2021 roster. Originally from Cork Ireland, Cronin played with Rockmount AFC before moving to Georgia in 2017. He played and studied at Emmanuel College, where he is currently a senior and captain. Cronin was named to the Keystone Conference XI when playing for Torch FC in the NPSL in 2019.
Cronin is very excited at the opportunity of playing for Grand Rapids FC this summer. “I can’t wait to move to a new part of the US and a new city. Looking forward to meeting the boys and testing myself in a big league. I’ve heard all about the great fans that GRFC has so it’ll be a big honor to play in front of them every week and hopefully bring more success and silverware to the club!”
Head Coach Stuart Collins praises Cronin’s versatility. “It was extremely important to me to bring in a midfield player who possesses Shane’s qualities. He is a real powerhouse box to box central midfield player in the traditional sense who will embody everything we are going to try and be as a team. His background and mentality also aid themselves to the fact that Shane will be a real driving force in everything we do this summer. Very excited to have him and looking forward to watching the impact he will have this summer.”
