Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced this morning the signing of defender Greg Williams for the 2019 National Premier Soccer league season.
Williams, originally from St. Petersburg, Florida, just finished up his senior season at Cedarville University in Ohio. Over his four years there, he made 66 appearances for the Yellow Jackets, anchoring a defense that competed for the G-MAC conference title every year. He played the 2018 campaign with the Muskegon Risers, playing in both legs of the Milk Cup matchup with GRFC.
“I am honored to continue my playing career at a quality club that competes at a very high level” said Williams. “GRFC is a first-class organization and I can’t wait to get to work with the squad to have a successful 2019 season.”
GRFC Mens Head Coach Lewis Robinson commented “Greg is a player we saw play against us and thought he was very good in the Milk Cup games. He is athletic and was very difficult to play against so when the opportunity came to sign him we jumped at the chance.”
GRFC will return to Houseman Field on Saturday, May 4th as the Boys in Blue host Livonia City at 7:30pm in the second round of the US Amateur Cup. Additional home dates include May 11th, May 18th, May 31st, June 9th, June 16th, June 28th, June 30th, and July 13th. The club will also compete in the Michigan Milk Cup this summer.
