Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced this morning the signing of midfielder Alex Gloshen for the 2019 National Premier Soccer League season.
Gloshen, 20, is currently a sophomore at Saginaw Valley State University. During his two seasons for the Cardinals, he has appeared in 36 games, scoring five goals and registering eight assists. He led the team in assists this past Fall, helping lead Saginaw Valley to a GLIAC championship and a sweet sixteen berth in the NCAA D2 tournament. He also scored the game-winning goal in overtime of the first-round match in the tournament.
He prepped at Traverse City West, scoring 21 goals and grabbing 40 assists during his junior and senior seasons. He played for Lewis Robinson at Midwest United as well, helping that group win a State Cup with a game winning goal in the championship match.
“I am truly thankful for the opportunity to play for GRFC and coach Lewis this season” said Gloshen. “I am very excited to play in front of some of the best supporters around.”
GRFC Mens Head Coach Lewis Robinson commented “We are very happy to add Alex to the squad for the 2019 season. He is a young player who I know well and look forward to helping him grow this summer as he competes with our squad in training and gets opportunities on the field in games.”
GRFC will return to Houseman Field on Saturday, May 4th as the Boys in Blue host Livonia City at 7:30pm. Additional home dates include May 11th, May 18th, May 31st, June 9th, June 16th, June 28th, June 30th, and July 13th. The club will also compete in the Michigan Milk Cup and the US Amateur Cup. Round one of the Amateur Cup will take place on Saturday, April 13th as GRFC takes on Ann Arbor FC at Grandville High School.
