Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids FC took to the field Thursday night for the first time in 2021. The Boys in Blue hosted Grand Haven Admirals at Midwest United Soccer Complex. We wanted to say a huge thank you to the Admirals for a fun night and a great matchup as both teams prepare for their summer seasons. You can learn more about The Admirals and find their upcoming schedules at ghadmirals.com.
Head coach Stu Collins had this to say about the first showing. “I’m very pleased with tonight. We’ve only had 6 hours of training together and the players showed a good understanding of what we expect from them. Loads of positives, loads of areas to refine. Most importantly, everybody played and showed well. We got out injury free which is huge, and the boys get a couple of well deserved days off now as we prepare to go again next week.”
Grand Rapids FC goals were scored by local coach and Davenport Panther star, TJ Ifaturoti. The second by Western Illinois University starter, Ryan DeBois. And the third by Western Michigan Bronco, Max Keenan. Multiple players on our back line as well as keeper, Tor Erik Larsen are credited with the clean sheet.
Catch the Boys In Blue next Thursday in our second scrimmage as we take on newly formed club, West Michigan Bearings at 8:30pm. You can find our full season schedule and other news on our social media as well. Thanks to all who came out on Thursday night!
