GRFC Women Re-Sign Trio For 2018 Season

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Rapids Football Club has re-signed defender Savanna Bosworth, midfielder Kylie Nylen and forward Paige Eli for the 2018 United Women’s Soccer season.

Returning for her second season with the Ladies in Blue, Bosworth appeared in three matches as a substitute during the club’s inaugural 2017 UWS campaign. The Grand Rapids native recently completed her sophomore season at Western Michigan University, scoring once in 15 appearances with the Broncos.

Prior to her collegiate career, the 5-foot-3 defender shined at Grandville High School, earning a MIHSSCA Second-Team All-State selection as a senior in 2016. Bosworth also collected two All-State honorable mentions with the Bulldogs.

Nylen started three matches for GRFC during the 2017 campaign, including the club’s first UWS match versus Michigan Legends on May 13. The 5-foot-9 midfielder also serves as a coach with Midwest United FC-Kalamazoo.

A native of Rochester, Mich., Nylen spent four seasons at WMU from 2012-15, recording seven goals and eight assists in 81 appearances with the Broncos. As a senior in 2015, Nylen garnered First-Team All-MAC accolades to go with the back-to-back Second Team All-MAC honors she received from 2013-14.

Eli was limited to one start with GRFC in 2017, playing 37 minutes in a 3-1 victory over Michigan Legends. The 5-foot-5 midfielder is currently an assistant coach with Davenport University’s women’s soccer program, which is led by former GRFC Women’s Team head coach Chris Allen.

Prior to joining Davenport’s coaching staff, Eli earned First-Team All-WHAC honors in each of her four seasons with the Panthers, accumulating 29 goal and 22 assists in 70 career appearances. As a sophomore in 2012, Eli became the first player in program history to receive an NAIA All-America honorable mention. The Huddersfield, England, native has also represented England at the U19 and U17 levels.

GRFC opens the home portion of its schedule on Saturday, May 5 as the Ladies in Blue host the Midwest United U19 squad at 7 p.m. at Grandville High School. Additional home dates confirmed by UWS include May 13, May 20, June 2, June 30 and July 8.
