Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced this afternoon the signing of goalkeeper Lauren Kozal for the 2019 United Womens Soccer season.
Kozal, 19, is a Freshman at Michigan State and served as the back-up to Reilley Ott this Fall. During her time in high school at Forest Hills Northern, she was a three-time All-Conference, two-time All-Conference, All-Region, and All-State selection. Her senior year she competed in the US Development Academy with Midwest United. She joined the Girls in Blue late during the 2018 season, playing in the UWS Midwest Final and National Semi-Final, gaining important experience.
“I am so grateful to be a part of such an amazing team that has had great success in the past” said Kozal. “I am very excited to be playing another summer with my hometown team.”
GRFC Women Head Coach James Gilpin commented “Lauren was a valued addition to the squad last year and we are expecting big things again this summer. I have been fortunate enough to work with Lauren for a number of year and have really enjoyed it as she is a great goalkeeper and a true role model for young aspiring players.”
GRFC Women return to Grandville on Friday, May 24th as the Midwest champions host Indiana Union at 7:00pm. Additional home dates include June 7th, June 8th, June 21st, and June 30th. The club will also compete in the first ever Women’s Milk Cup with competition dates being announced at a later time.
