Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced this afternoon the signing of Western Michigan University Forward Morgan Otteson for the 2019 United Womens Soccer season.
Otteson, a Freshman originally from Grand Rapids, appeared in 19 games for the Broncos this Fall. She became a starter about halfway through the season, and scored five goals during her first college campaign. She played high school soccer at Northview, scoring 89 goals in three varsity seasons. She was named all-conference, all-district, all-region, and all-state as well.
Otteson joined the Girls in Blue late last season, appearing in four games and recording an assist in the 7-1 win over Fort Wayne.
“I am extremely grateful that I have the opportunity to continue to play this summer and represent my home city” said Otteson. “I will work very hard to make our fans proud and bring another championship back to GR.”
GRFC Women Head Coach James Gilpin commented “Morgan had a very impactful first season with us last year. Her directness with the ball at her feet really got the fans excited and I’m sure they will be looking forward to seeing her in blue again this summer.”
GRFC Women return to Grandville on Friday, May 24th as the Midwest champions host Indiana Union at 7:00pm. Additional home dates include June 7th, June 8th, June 21st, and June 30th.
