Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced today that Jack McCarren will return for the 2019 National Premier League season.
McCarren, a central midfielder, joined the Boys in Blue for the 2018 campaign and made 10 appearances. He scored one goal while adding five assists, and his constant threat from set pieces kept opposing teams on their toes.
McCarren played his collegiate soccer at Martin Methodist in Tennessee, where he led the RedHawks with 14 goals, eight assists and four game-winning goals in 17 starts during his senior year. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound midfielder was subsequently honored as a Second Team All-SSAC selection, marking the second consecutive season in which he earned that distinction. He is currently a graduate assistant coach for the Men’s program at Aquinas College.
“It is amazing to be involved with such a well-known club like GRFC” said McCarren. “I can’t wait to get back with the boys and work with some great coaches as we aim to bring a championship back to these great fans in Grand Rapids.”
GRFC Head Coach Lewis Robinson commented “Jack makes our team a lot stronger in the Midfield area and I am delighted he will be back with us. He possesses real quality on the ball and can break down opponents with his creativity and killer passes. We are looking forward to getting him back in blue this spring!”
