Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced this afternoon the return of winger Jalen Rodriguez to the squad for the 2019 National Premier Soccer League season.
Rodriguez, 20, can play a variety of positions but will most likely be used as a wingback or an out and out winger. He had a breakout season in 2017, scoring five goals in eleven appearances and was named Attacking Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year. During the 2018 campaign, he battled several injuries but still scored three goals in limited time on the field. Jalen is also the youngest player to ever score a goal for the Boys in Blue, registering the feat during a win over Lansing United in 2017.
“I am thankful to be able to come back and play for Grand Rapids FC this year, and I am going to leave everything I have out on the field for the city of Grand Rapids” said Rodriguez. “I will do anything I can to help bring a championship to West Michigan.”
GRFC Head Coach Lewis Robinson commented “Jalen brings an enormous amount of talent and pace to our team. We are looking forward to getting back to work with him this year and continuing to help him grow into a top player for us.”
