Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced this morning the return of Kendra Longoria for the 2019 United Womens Soccer season.
Longoria, a native of Alto and competed in high school at Caledonia, played four years at Grand Valley State University and joined the Girls in Blue for the 2018 season. While at GVSU, she made 102 appearances for the Lakers, scoring 49 goals and registering 39 assists. She was named All-GLIAC and All-American, helping lead GVSU to three straight NCAA D2 national championships and four straight national championship games in her time there.
During her time with GRFC, she appeared in ten games, notching one goal and three assists while helping lead the team to a second consecutive UWS Midwest championship and UWS National semi-final.
“I am so excited about returning on to the 2019 GRFC squad” said Longoria. “It is so awesome playing with such amazing women and playing for my hometown. The competitive aspect is what I look forward to the most as I really enjoy playing at a high level of the sport I love.”
GRFC Women Head Coach James Gilpin commented “Kenny is a natural competitor and she brings a wealth of experience winning championships at the college level with Grand Valley. She had a solid first year and I know she will want to push on and help us raise the profile of women’s soccer in the area with more championships and positive team performances.”
GRFC Women return to Grandville on Friday, May 24th as the Midwest champions host Indiana Union at 7:00pm. Additional home dates include June 7th, June 8th, June 21st, and June 30th. The club will also compete in the first ever Women’s Milk Cup with competition dates being announced at a later time.
