Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club is happy to announce that Lewis Robinson will continue to serve as the Mens head coach for the 2019 season. Robinson has been a part of the GRFC staff since 2016.
The Newcastle, England native led the GRFC Womens team to a national championship in 2017 during their inaugural season, then took over the Mens job in 2018 and led the Boys in Blue to a 10-4-2 record as well as a berth in the NPSL playoffs and a semi-final appearance in the Milk Cup. Both campaigns ended in PK shootout losses even though GRFC carried most of the play in those games.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to lead this wonderful club again in 2019” said Robinson. “The direction the club is heading is very encouraging and makes for an exciting off season again this year. We have already started working to continue to put the best team together to compete for the NPSL championship, and we can’t wait to get back on the field in front of the best support in the country!”
In addition to his role as GRFC mens head coach, Lewis is also the Director of Coaching for Midwest United and the Womens head coach at Aquinas College.
GRFC president Matt Roberts commented “We are very excited to have Lewis back for the 2019 season as we saw our club take steps forward in several different areas during 2018. He did a fantastic job of leading our Mens team back to the post-season again, and he knows the expectations for our club are very high and works extremely hard to make our fans proud.”
