Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club announced today that Marti Corby will return for the 2019 GRFC Women’s UWS season. Corby, who can play as a Midfielder or a Forward, has been a regular for GRFC the first two seasons. Corby led GRFC Women to a National Championship in 2017 and was named captain of the side during the 2018 campaign. She has scored ten goals for the Girls in Blue, putting her second on the all-time list.
“I am really excited to re-sign with GRFC Women and play for my hometown once again” said Corby. “We’ve done great things as a club these past few years, and I know it will continue into year three. Our pool of players is very talented and we have high expectation for the upcoming 2019 season. I can’t wait to be back out there on the field with the players, coaches, and of course our incredible fans the Grand Army.”
GRFC Women Head Coach James Gilpin commented “We are all looking forward to having Marti back with us for the 2019 campaign. She has excelled at every level she has been at and is a great role model for the younger players who will be joining us this year. Having players with championship experience will be key for our team this year as we look to progress from where we left off last summer.”
