Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Football Club is pleased to announce the addition of Pedro Sanchez as the new Director of Club Operations.
Sanchez, born and raised in the Grand Rapids area is a big advocate for the game of soccer. He played for the Hudsonville Hornets in his high school years, winning two state championships and one national championship. Instead of pursuing a collegiate career, Pedro chose a career path which led him to start The Grand Rapids Wanderers, an arena club right here in the city. The Wanderers compete in the Major Arena Soccer League’s M3. In addition, Pedro is an assistant coach for the Men’s soccer team at Grace Christian University. Sanchez now joins Joe Broekhuizen, who was named GM earlier this week, in the GRFC front office staff.
“It’s an honor to be a part of the staff at GRFC. From its inception, I have been a big fan of the club. Now, to be able to have a hand in making things happen is amazing. I can’t wait to be back out there with everyone and hear the Grand Army going insane. I hope I am able to meet every single one of the GRFC fans next summer. The future is bright with Grand Rapids Football Club!”
Sanchez continued, “We’re already working on what this next season looks like even if we are still limited due to COVID-19. We hope to do some virtual events with players, coaches, and staff in the coming months; as well as revisit with some GRFC alumni to see what they are up to. All this will be done in preparation for an official launch in the USL2 that was spoiled last year due to the pandemic.”
General Manager, Joe Broekhuizen added, “I am thrilled to have Pedro onboard and I am really looking forward to working alongside of him. He has a great soccer mind, is well connected in the community, and has the passion and dedication for our city that will keep the soccer community’s best interests in mind.”
